Discover local Pancakes dish
Favourite childhood breakfast food? Pancakes have our vote, hands down. Stacked up and soaked with coat of maple syrup, or topped with a squeeze of lemon and a teaspoon of raw sugar, these babies hold a special place in our nostalgic hearts! Also, who remembers pikelets?! This unique Aussie spin on the traditional pancake continues to be a favourite snack food and party favourite among kids and adults alike. Typically accompanied by bacon, eggs, toast or sausage, Americans also love their Pancakes, with entire restaurants dedicated to the humble dish. Other famous variations include the French crepe, which is often served with nutella and can even be brought from street vendors. Now that's what we call a snack!
Love Pancakes? Then you’ll love Crêpes. And a Crêpe (aka a thin Pancake) loves a Combo of toppings or fillings. Either Sweet (Crêpe) or Savoury (Galette) or, crazy as it may sound, a mix of the two. Should we call that Sweevoury? Nah. Anyway, You & the Menulog app are the very best combo to get them delivered to your door. And here’s some fave Galette flavour combos to get your taste buds thinking. Think Caramelised Leek, Shallot & Pancetta Galette. Think Butternut Squash, Brussels Sprout & Goat Cheese. Think Honey & Banana Crêpe. Think Spinach & Mushroom Crêpe. Think Roast Butternut Squash, Onion, Spinach & Feta. Think Fennel, Onion & Gruyère Cheese Galette. There are literally thousands of delicious and innovative variants to be tapped into (via the delicious and innovative Menulog app).
The shape of the Pancake varies across the world. In Britain, pancakes often resemble a Crêpe. The Great British Pancake is typically eaten as a sweet dessert, with the toppings such as a variety of Jams, Fruit, Honey, Icing Sugar, Whipped Cream, Chocolate Sauce or (and we’ve all done it) a delicate drizzle of Golden Syrup (don’t forget to lick the spoon). They can also be wrapped around Savoury Fillings as a main course (don’t forget to use the Menulog app). On Shrove Tuesday, it’s a custom to eat pancakes with the Classic Traditional Favourite Topping of an easy-peasy-squeeze of Lemon or Orange Juice and a sprinkling of Sugar. (On any day, it’s easy peasy to have them flying your way like an edible discus on a Menulog delivery bike.)
